Made in response to the popular hashtag #blackgirlmagic intended to encourage and uplift young girls.  Achieving “magical” expectations may be both achievement and burden. I question the influence that these high expectations have had on younger generations. My concern grows in consideration of black women, who have historically been a population at high risk for numerous health concerns.
